Jacobi Bedenfield

Jacobi Bedenfield was born and raised in Pensacola, Fla. He graduated from West Florida High School of Advanced Technology in 2014. He participated in the agricultural biotechnology career academy for all four years of high school and completed the program with a certificate of mastery.


He was very active in the National FFA Organization, formerly the Future Farmers of America, where he competed in public speaking and parliamentary procedure competitive events. After graduating from high school, he was elected to serve 60,000 agricultural education students and 18,000 FFA members as the state vice president of the Florida FFA Association.


After his term as a state officer, he enrolled at Santa Fe College, which was conveniently located in the same city as the FFA Headquarters building. Bedenfield became very involved in clubs, organizations, community service and student government early in his college career. He was elected as the event chair of student government and also as the district IV jurisprudence in the Florida College System Student Government Association (FCSSGA) all within his first month as a student.


The next year, he was elected to serve as student body president of The College and as district IV coordinator of the FCSSGA where he coordinated all activities from Pensacola to Jacksonville, Fla. At Santa Fe College, he led the charge in making the institution a tobacco free campus and provided representation in student government for mentally and physically disabled students.


In April of 2017, Bedenfield successfully won a highly contested race and was elected to serve as the state president of the FCSSGA, becoming the leading student voice for over 800,000 students throughout the state. During this time, he also served on the executive committee of the Florida College System Activities Association. He has been an advocate for college affordability, student safety, increasing student resources and accessibility, and increasing funding among institutions of higher learning. Throughout his term, he developed key partnerships with members of the Florida Legislature and was selected to testify before the Senate Appropriations Committee on behalf of the Florida Department of Education and the 28 state colleges. He also coordinated a state listening tour, where he traveled the entire state to speak with college students about the problems they face with the education system. After completing his term as state president, he was hand-chosen and appointed to serve as the youngest member on the inaugural advisory board for the Florida Student Success Center. He transferred to the University of Central Florida where he completed his bachelor's degree in Political Science, Specializing in International Relations and Comparative Politics. 


Additionally, Bedenfield is currently on the Board of Directors of the Florida FFA Alumni Association. He also serves as the southern region vice president on the National FFA Alumni & Supporters Council and. In this role, he represents the interests of FFA alumni members in Florida, Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. He furthermore serves on the National FFA Foundation's Board of Trustees.


In addition to his leadership roles in the community, he is currently a regional post-secondary resource specialist with the State Headquarters of Take Stock in Children, Inc. Bedenfield has received numerous awards including: Bob Graham Distinguished Service Award, 40 Future Leaders of the Gulf Coast, Commissioner of Education Leadership Award, FCSSGA President of the Year, SFC Civic Engagement & Service Award, and others! He is passionate about people and serving the community! In his free time, Jacobi enjoys public speaking, kayaking, mentoring and going to the movies!
